Tracks in Time: All Terrain Vehicles in Alaska

All Terrain Vehicles are a practical reality of life in Alaska. Another reality is the national trend to regulate their use in national forests and national parks. Yakutat, a community of 800 on the Gulf of Alaska, is surrounded by federal park and forest land. ?Tracks in Time: All Terrain Vehicles in Alaska? shows how a combination of research, demonstration trail building, education and communication between federal officials and local residents has helped ease the transition for the community and perhaps serve as a model for other Alaskans towns facing similar issues.
